The Spicy News - Live

Description: Spicy News

The Spicy News is a weekly, Portland-based internet comedy series with over 40,000 views that boldly answers the question, “What happens when comics stop acting polite and start eating habenero peppers before telling jokes?”

Portland’s Top Shelf Showcase is proud to present the first-ever live version of the Spicy News that will feature Portland’s Ian Karmel and the creators and writers for the series alongside Seattle favorites Derek Sheen and Emmett Montgomery. Each comic will test the limits of their spice-tolerance and sanity in front of a raucous crowd at Seattle’s Comedy Underground.

Each performer will consume a fiery habenero pepper and be forced make a deal with the devil: continue telling jokes while their mouth is swiftly set ablaze or surrender to the temptation of the creamy cooling powers of the ice cream that awaits them offstage. The audience will help select a winner at the end of the showcase who will receive a hot, cash prize. All comedians will receive a lifetime supply of regret for agreeing to participate in this insanity.

Scheduled performers include: Emmett Montgomery, Derek Sheen, Carson Creecy IV, Nic Goans, Danny Felts, Craig May, and special surprise guests. Hosted by Campy Draper.
