Cultivate is our weekly showcase featuring the best of Seattle's working headliners...with a twist!
Each month we take Seattle's most established headliners and pair them with the best "up and comers" in a weekly "residency" environment, experimenting with new and tested material.
This show includes Elliot Maxx, Owen Straw, Rylee Newton and Emmett Montgomery.
It's like an open mic for the pros!
Come watch how jokes get made and see the process unfold over three whole weeks, or just come out and laugh! Either way, you'll get a chance to see, both, legends and the stars of tomorrow, today, as they cultivate new ways of making us laugh!
The COMEDY UNDERGROUND presents Monday Madness Open Mic for professional and amateur comedians to test new material and to develop their acts. 30 or more comics per night, only 5 SCOOTS!

Kristine Levine is a blonde, tattooed, proudly overweight single mother who raised three “moon-faced” kids while working as a porn clerk in Portland, OR. As a comedian, her refreshing candor and unflinching, twisted perspectives on life, love and dysfunction have earned her a reputation as a biting, brutal cross between Lenny Bruce and Roseanne Barr. Kristine has seen – and done – it all and lived to tell the riotous tales. Yet underneath her “shocking” exterior, Kristine is as genuine and disarming in real life as she is for a rollicking hour onstage. A simultaneously empowering and endearing, she gleefully plunders uncharted stand-up territory as a sweetly ambivalent Every gal who women fear yet are inexplicably drawn to”¦and who men fear yet are inexplicably drawn to. Kristine just finished performing at the Bridgetown Comedy Festival and competed in last year's Seattle International Comedy Competition.
Richie Stratton has been seen on stages from New York to L.A. from Louisiana to Michigan, and everywhere in between. After winning a number of contests in Portland, he has been working on the road ever since. He was just one of the first Stand-up comedians on Vans Warped tour, the biggest rock tour in North America, bringing an average of 150,000 patrons a show. Having performed in over 40 states and Canada, Richie combines universally funny views on life, hilarious characters, and an infectious energy, all while tightrope walking on the edge. You'll have no idea what Richie will say next, but you're sure to enjoy it. His youthful look and innocent persona will be shattered the minute he opens his mouth. Richie Stratton is a traditional stand-up comedian that defies convention.
Shane Torres was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, but has called Portland home for the past six years. His comedy has been called the funniest therapy session people have ever seen. In the time he has been writing and performing his personal brand of standup comedy he has been lucky enough to open for Michael Ian Black and perform at The Bridgetown Comedy Festival and The New Orleans Comedy Festival. He also hates writing bios.
Christian “Van Wade” Ricketts can be seen regularly as the emcee, host and frequent headliner at the Abalone Room in Avalon California, on Catalina Island. His Passions include photography, wearing foundation, and Tennis. He was a semi-finalist in Helium Comedy Club’s “Portland’s Funiest Person Comedy Competition” in 2011 but was unable to advance after getting caught in another combatant's flying scissor heel lock that resulted in grievous bodily harm. Mr. Ricketts also appeared at the 2012 Bridgetown Comedy Festival where he shared a beer with Doug Benson.
Carson Creecy is an actor, comedian, and motivational speaker who resides in Portland but travels extensively throughout Washington preaching the gospel of higher education and post-modern pop-culture observations.
Mr. Creecy competed in last year's Portland's Funniest Person Contest but was disqualified for unleashing an illegal flying scissor heel lock on another comedy competitor in the green room.
